"Snow" Many Weather Resources Weather is a popular topic of conversation in Michigan. If it's hot, we wish for cold temperatures and in the middle of winter we hope for spring! Our feature article looks at a few examples of data and maps that you can find online and some that can be added to your interactive maps. The article also explores different methods for keeping the public informed about snow plowing activities after a major storm event. Esri's Living Atlas also provides weather data that can be added to an ArcGIS Online web map. Check out How to Make a Weather Map in a Minute for instructions!

IMAGIN's 29th Annual Conference - Postponed
With restrictions slowly being lifted and vaccine distribution ramping up, we all are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. After months of consideration the IMAGIN Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to postpone the 29th annual conference until June 5-7, 2022.
The health & safety of everyone is of utmost importance to the IMAGIN Board of Directors. The planning for our conference on Mackinac Island was always with the hopes of celebrating our 30th conference. Although it may not be the 30th conference, we want to provide the highest quality content, networking, and experiences for the largest GIS audience in Michigan. We are already planning and hope that you will join us on the island next year.

In December, the ArcGIS Online Mapping Team released new functionality to provide better representations for "above-and-below" data such as change in population per census block. Typically, a color ramp with neutral shades in the middle would be used to show the data trends on a map. Or, the symbol size would show small to large circles as an example. Now, new themes in the color and size renderers are available making it easier to show the high and low values on a map. Examples of when it is appropriate to use the new renderers and the steps to representing your data with them are detailed in an ArcGIS Online blog post.
