The next West Michigan GIS Users Group meeting will be Tuesday October 11th, at noon at the Grand Valley Metro Council (GVMC) . GVMC will provide a pizza lunch and Andy Henry will be presenting a synopsis of the NSF GRACE Program.
Andy Henry is a GIS and multimedia consultant for Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), in Wayne, MI.
Below is a summary of what Andy will be presenting on:
· The project goals, structure, and partners· The roles of the main partners: EMU, DTMB, MiCAMP and MVU· A brief overview of professional development component for teachers· An introduction to student internship component, including· The coursework students complete before they apply for internships;· Examples of the kinds and quality of work interns in the program are currently producing· Locations where intern candidates are available· Recommended duration of an internship· Approximate cost of intern, and opportunities for funding support· How to apply to host an internshipHow to become a GRACE Geomentor to support teachers and students learning GIS in Michigan
